Crispy Homemade Sourdough Croutons

Ingredients

  • 3 cups day-old sourdough bread (cubed)
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried herbs (thyme or oregano)
  • Optional: 2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the sourdough bread into bite-sized cubes.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil or melted butter.
  4. Add salt, garlic powder, and dried herbs. Mix well so everything is evenly coated.
  5. Spread the bread cubes in a single layer on a baking tray.
  6. Bake for 12–20 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool completely (they crisp up more as they cool).
  8. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top if desired.
