Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  2. Grease a 12-cup muffin pan or line it with paper liners to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Melt the Butter

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1/2 cup butter. Let it cool slightly before adding to the batter.

Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients

  1. Stir in 1 cup granulated sugar2 large eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract into the melted butter. Mix until smooth and fully combined.

Step 4: Add Dry Ingredients

  1. Add 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder1/2 cup all-purpose flour1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder to the mixture. Stir just until combined — be careful not to overmix to keep the brownies fudgy.

Step 5: Add Optional Ingredients

  1. If using, fold in 1/2 cup chocolate chips or 1/2 cup chopped nuts (like walnuts or pecans).

Step 6: Fill the Muffin Pan

  1. Spoon the brownie batter evenly into the muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.

Step 7: Bake

  1. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. For extra fudgy brownies, bake on the shorter end of the time range.

Step 8: Cool and Serve
