⭐ Crispy Mozzarella Sticks (Easy Homemade Recipe)

🧀 Ingredients

For the Mozzarella Sticks:

  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs (Italian style preferred)
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (extra crunch!)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt

For Frying:

  • Oil for deep frying (canola, vegetable, or sunflower)

For Dipping:

  • Marinara sauce
  • Ranch dressing (optional)

🔥 Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cheese

  • Unwrap the mozzarella sticks.
  • Cut them in half if you want bite-sized pieces.
  • Freeze for 25–30 minutes.
    ✔ This prevents melting and leaking while frying.

Step 2: Set Up Breading Station

Use 3 shallow bowls:

Bowl 1: Flour
Bowl 2: Eggs + Milk (whisk together)
Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs + Panko + Garlic powder + Onion powder + Paprika + Salt + Pepper


Step 3: Bread the Mozzarella

Coat each frozen stick like this:

  1. Flour
  2. Egg wash
  3. Breadcrumb mix
  4. Back into egg wash
  5. Back into breadcrumb mix

Step 4: Freeze Again

Place coated sticks on a tray and freeze for 30 minutes.

This step makes them super crispy when fried.


Step 5: Fry ‘Em Up

  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  • Drop in 4–5 sticks at a time.
  • Fry 1½ to 2 minutes until golden.

Don’t overcook—they melt fast!


Step 6: Serve Hot
